A single grain is a whisky made from cereals other than barley such as corn, rye or even rice. Distilled in column stills and aged at least three years in oak casks, a single grain is a blend of grain whiskies of different ages or casks, all from a single distillery. Mostly used for blended whiskies it can sometimes be bottled as single grain only.
